A Day of Growth, Connection, and Achievement!

A Day of Growth, Connection, and Achievement!

The ClearCommunityWeb team recently swapped the office for the outdoors and took on an incredible Away Day filled with excitement, teamwork, and growth. From practicing our aim in archery to building a bridge that spanned a stream, we pushed ourselves beyond our comfort zones and walked away stronger and more united than ever.

One of the day’s highlights was building a wooden bridge with our teammates. Working together on this complex task tested our communication, patience, and problem-solving skills qualities that are essential in both work and life. Watching our bridge take shape reminded us of what’s possible when we come together and trust each other’s abilities.

Our amazing trainer, Jim, introduced us to the Self-Determination Theory (SDT) and guided us through the RAMP Model (Relatedness, Autonomy, Mastery, and Purpose). Through each activity, we learned how these four pillars can empower us to become better leaders, communicators, and collaborators. Here’s what each one meant for us on Away Day:

  • Relatedness: Teamwork showed us the strength of connection and trust. Spending time together in a new environment strengthened our bonds and made us feel closer as a team.
  • Autonomy: Jim encouraged us to take charge and try our own approaches. This freedom allowed us to learn from each decision and build confidence along the way.
  • Mastery: Each activity challenged us to develop a new skill, from the patience of archery to the strategy of bridge-building. We left with a renewed commitment to growth, both individually and as a team.
  • Purpose: Seeing how these skills contribute to our shared mission at ClearCommunityWeb gave new meaning to our work. We left inspired to bring this sense of purpose into everything we do.

By the end of the day, we felt a deep sense of accomplishment and camaraderie. We returned to the office with fresh perspectives, closer relationships, and a motivation to reach new heights together.

Here’s to the incredible journey of growth and teamwork we’re on at ClearCommunityWeb!

“This day reminded us that when we come together and support each other, there’s no limit to what we can achieve.”

Do you need help accessing Online Services?

Do you need help accessing Online Services?

For some time now we have been running a separate programme in Croydon and Lambeth supporting residents to completing online forms, creating accounts, accessing the council, NHS, DWP and help with the cost of living – Online Services Support.

It’s not uncommon for people to feel overwhelmed with options or the information the need to prepare for so we always start with Readiness Session to ensure that we identify everything we need for an application which may lead to a second session once everything has been collated.

For many, the Readiness Session is enough for them to build the confidence to do th application for themselves or in a supported way with us

We are also to identify broader issues people may be facing and signpost to further support and other information, where relevant, as well having access to the National Databank so we can donate free sims and date for families and residents in financial need.

We work alongside information and advice organizations such as Citizen’s Advice, Age UK Croydon., Centre 70, Brixton Advice Centre and Oasis Centre.

We have weekly sessions at Thornton Heath Library (Mondays), Croydon Central Library (Wednesdays) and will be starting at Oasis Centre, Waterloo 8th November.

Fortnightly we are at Centre 70, Stockwell Park Community Trust, Woodside Baptist Church and Family Centre, Fieldway, New Addington (from 12th November) on Tuesdays and Old Lodge Lane Baptist Church on Fridays

And we finally return to both the Wellness Centre and Ashburton Library for our Croydon based Mobile Phone Boot Camps

Feel free to get in touch if you want further information, but even better, it would be great to see you out in the community!

Let me tell you about Healthy Digital…

Let me tell you about Healthy Digital…

Healthy Digital is our new programme designed to help you get to grips with navigating the various apps and website to manage your health online.

Over next year we will be testing out a few different formats to help you get to grips with accessing your health records, managing symptoms such as chronic pain and generally being more in control over your own health journey.

As with everything we do, this is about helping you understand what is available so that you can make a choice about what is right for you.

Undeniably, more and more services will be prioritized online from now on and some of us will take a little while to be fully comfortable with some of this, so now could be a good time to start to explore.

We start off with a set of three workshops being delivered through community and health centres and include

  • Managing your health with the GP using the NHS AppManaging your hospital visits using MyChart/ MyCare
  • Follow on technical support to set up, use or troubleshoot and problems

Our full schedule can be found here and dates will be added

How safe are your WhatsApp settings?

How safe are your WhatsApp settings?

WhatsApp is one of the most used communication tools and yet is also one of the most ‘high risk’ platforms for scammers, misinformation and identify theft.

It’s really simple for someone to take control of a WhatsApp account and then get access to all contacts and other groups on that phone AND YET it is also straightforward to put measures in p[lave to make this almost impossible.

Over the next few weeks we will be focussing on WhatsApp security settings and other tips and tricks in our Mobile Phone Boot Camps (Wellness Centre, Croydon 12th April & Myatts Field, Kennington/Camberwell 19th April) and on our Digital Awareness Online class on the 23rd April.

A just a little reminder that we re-start our Digital Drop in schedule again from Monday.

See you soon!
