It’s half term already and we have some new things up our sleeve

It’s half term already and we have some new things up our sleeve

We’re already mid-point through February and we are at half term so just a reminder that we will  not be running any Digital Drop-Ins or Online Services Support sessions until Monday 24th February  with the exception of Orpington Methodist Church (Monday 2pm-4pm) and Woodside Baptist Church (Tuesday 12.30-2.20) where will also be running out new ‘Being Safe Online’  workshop where we will be focusing on WhatsApp.

We have two big announcements to make:

On Monday 24th February we will  be hosting our Digital Horizons event at Orpington Methodist Church celebrating the launch of our Digital Hub. We will have a range of talks about being connected and being safe from Bromley Trading Standards, Age UK Bromley & Greenwich, NHS, Bromley Council, Digital Unite and yours truly.

If you are local and haven’t been along yet then it would  be good to connect and show you around our new space!

Secondly, we are collaborating with Upper Norwood Library Hub with an exciting new Art project around the theme: Equity in digital inclusion. We are  looking for people with views about what it means to be excluded digitally and struggling to access critical services. Over 3 afternoons in March the group will explore this subject area through facilitated workshops and contribute to an exhibition later in the year. No experience necessary and we are looking for a wide range of views, lived experience and the experience of people you care for

Can you build community connections in Croydon North?

Can you build community connections in Croydon North?

We are recruiting a full time Community Builder to work across North Croydon (including South Norwood, Norbury Park, Norbury and Pollards Hill, Bensham Manor and West Thornton).

You will identify, unite and help to develop individuals and groups to reach their potential, develop their ideas and enhance our local community.

You will work in communities: bring partners together, share insights from people who are seldom heard and work across the locality to meet the priorities of the Local Community Partnership.

The successful candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills, the ability to connect people to bring about positive change, and a passion to help people overcome inequality and exclusion.

So what is community building? This happens when people and organisations from across the community come together to envision how their ideal community should look. They then begin to develop plans to mobilise all of the community’s resources to achieve their visions.

Community Builder will initiate conversations with residents in the community to identify and work with ‘Community Connectors’ to nurture community led activity and connect them with local assets.

This is a fixed term contract up to 31st March 2026 with an immediate start.

Some weekend or evening work may be required to ensure we are able to reach as many people as we can.

Application Deadline: 9th March.

How to apply:

ClearCommunityWeb are a local social enterprise helping people feel more confident and comfortable with technology through classes, workshops and individual support in the home. We primarily work with older people, vulnerable adults and carers in South London, both directly and through our network of local partners.

We work closely with organisations such as Age Uk Croydon and Croydon BME Forum as well as grassroots VCS to identify where needs are and how we can meet them together.

A round up of our Digital Skills support for the winter

Coming into December, we thought things would naturally die down as people attend seasonal celebrations, have family commitments to prepare for and, let’s face it, its cold and rainy!

We’ve had our busiest week ever of people attending our various programmes wanting to build confidence, improve skills and do things for yourselves. All credit to you!

Since we last spoke, we’ve started new sessions in Waterloo, Orpington, Peckham and New Addington, but don’t worry, our usual schedule still stands so don’t hesitate to come and say hi, get some practice in, and build those skills!

Importantly, we wanted to let you know about our celebration events which will be at Age UK Croydon on Tuesday 10th December (2pm-4pm), Wellness Centre, Croydon on Friday 13th December (2pm-4pm) and Old Laundry at Stockwell on Tuesday 17th December (2pm-4pm)

Please feel free to come along and celebrate with us or just say hi even if you do not normally attend these sessions.

A Day of Growth, Connection, and Achievement!

A Day of Growth, Connection, and Achievement!

The ClearCommunityWeb team recently swapped the office for the outdoors and took on an incredible Away Day filled with excitement, teamwork, and growth. From practicing our aim in archery to building a bridge that spanned a stream, we pushed ourselves beyond our comfort zones and walked away stronger and more united than ever.

One of the day’s highlights was building a wooden bridge with our teammates. Working together on this complex task tested our communication, patience, and problem-solving skills qualities that are essential in both work and life. Watching our bridge take shape reminded us of what’s possible when we come together and trust each other’s abilities.

Our amazing trainer, Jim, introduced us to the Self-Determination Theory (SDT) and guided us through the RAMP Model (Relatedness, Autonomy, Mastery, and Purpose). Through each activity, we learned how these four pillars can empower us to become better leaders, communicators, and collaborators. Here’s what each one meant for us on Away Day:

  • Relatedness: Teamwork showed us the strength of connection and trust. Spending time together in a new environment strengthened our bonds and made us feel closer as a team.
  • Autonomy: Jim encouraged us to take charge and try our own approaches. This freedom allowed us to learn from each decision and build confidence along the way.
  • Mastery: Each activity challenged us to develop a new skill, from the patience of archery to the strategy of bridge-building. We left with a renewed commitment to growth, both individually and as a team.
  • Purpose: Seeing how these skills contribute to our shared mission at ClearCommunityWeb gave new meaning to our work. We left inspired to bring this sense of purpose into everything we do.

By the end of the day, we felt a deep sense of accomplishment and camaraderie. We returned to the office with fresh perspectives, closer relationships, and a motivation to reach new heights together.

Here’s to the incredible journey of growth and teamwork we’re on at ClearCommunityWeb!

“This day reminded us that when we come together and support each other, there’s no limit to what we can achieve.”
